Oxo Tower Wharf, SE1 9PH - Exhibitions and Experiential Events

Oxo Tower Wharf will host major brand activations, exhibitions and experiential events. designjunction is thrilled to join 25 designer-maker stores with Oxo Tower Wharf already playing home to renowned brands including Innermost, Black & Blum, Bodo Sperlein and many more. Riverside Walkway, SE1 9LT - Outdoor Installations

Riverside Walkway will showcase a series of outdoor installation projects including a sustainable vault structure – entirely made of local natural materials with the use of drones, a 9 metre high scultpure overlooking the river and a large ribbon structure on one of the jetties. Book Tickets.

Mudshell

Riverside Walkway will provide a platform for Mud Shell, an innovative housing project marrying ancient earth architecture techniques with the latest drone spraying technology. The Mud Shell Project by Stephanie Chaltiel provides an alternative housing system for emergency contexts and innovative cities. Book Tickets.

 

Disco Gufram

International design brand Gufram will present its playful Disco Gufram installation on the ground floor of the Doon Street site. Experience the immersive nightclub-inspired interior, a space intertwined with pop culture since the mid 1960’s, re-thought and re-shaped by Gufram. Book Tickets.

The Designers' Dreamscape

We are delighted to support the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust in partnership with RIBA. To celebrate this, award-winning architecture practice Squire & Partners will create a ‘dreamscape’ co-working space to connect young designers with industry leaders. The space will be furnished by Uncommon Projects with an innovative use of acoustic panelling by We Design Silence. Gateway to Inclusion

On one of the jetties overlooking the Thames, the city of Saint-Étienne will showcase the ‘Gateway to Inclusion’, an installation conceived by Lisa White, Head of Lifestyle and Interiors at WGSN, in collaboration with designer François Dumas. A structure made of steel and ribbon, the project aims to promote inclusion in design. Book Tickets.

Head Above Water

Head Above Water by Steuart Padwick is a 9-metre high, interactive sculpture of a head, which will appear on Queen's Stone jetty making a dramatic change to the London skyline. This piece of public art which is deliberately gender/age/ethnicity neutral - supports the mental health campaign Time to Change, standing as a symbol of hope, bravery, compassion and change. At night, the head will change colour as visitors interact and engage with the sculpture on Twitter by using #HeadAboveWater. Book Tickets.

Urban Roof Gardens

Leading design practice creating unique and stylish roof gardens, Urban Roof Gardens will bring its new Urban Biophilia concept to the Bargehouse courtyard. exploring the profound relationship between people and nature, the installation will provide city dwellers with a botanical sanctuary. Earl of East London

For its first appearance at designjunction Earl Of East London will be transforming its stand into an immersive Japanese spa installation to launch the new travel inspired fragrance collection. Complete with pine cladding and folding screens, the new line will be showcased within the minimal design aesthetic of Japan. The space will be scented with “Onsen” using ultrasonic diffusers, and there will be traditional Japanese Onsen music and Green tea by Tiosk available to enhance the multi-sensory experience. Design Switzerland

Design Switzerland will feature seven emerging design studios and will display a wide range of projects, from a household composting system by WormUp GmbH to minimalistic sport equipment by Ulysse Martel. The exhibition will also showcase innovative accessories developed in Greenland by Hors Pistes, an interactive LED lighting installation by iiode, contemporary homeware pieces by SUPERLIFE as well as a series of minimal everyday objects by Dimitri Bähler Studio. Tej Chauhan

Tej  Chauhan, will  present  SOFT POWER,  an  installation showcasing Tej’s  works  which range  from  technology to  homeware,  celebrating the  everyday. The  show  will feature  the  UK debut  of  Moby, his  new  design for  Artifort. Book Tickets.

The Original. About the power of good design

Swiss furniture manufacturer Vitra will present the exhibition; ‘The Original. About the power of good design’ . As part of its international roadshow, the installation focuses on Vitra’s classic and contemporary products, offering insights into the company’s product development processes and recounting the origins and stories behind some of their most recognisable designs. Rado Star Prize UK

Blueprint Architecture Photography Awards

Blueprint magazine will be presenting the winners of the 2018 Blueprint Architecture Photography Awards sponsored by Atrium. The display will be lit by an active lighting system from Atrium which will work in tandem with a sound installation called Urbanity. Urbanity — a soundscape of cities and architecture — is a collaboration between DJ and producer Noah Tucker and Blueprint editor Johnny Tucker. The soundtrack brings together sounds from cities around the world as far apart as Chandigarh, India and Moscow, Russia. Book Tickets.


Bolon

Flooring creatives, Bolon will launch nature-inspired collection, Elements, in an exhibition showcasing the company’s commitment to sustainability. The range reflects the textures of the natural environment and is inspired by materials such as linen, oak, ask, cork, birch and marble. The exhibition will highlight Bolon's two new sustainable initiatives, Closing the Circle and Cradle to Cradle with NoGlue®, and reflect on its history of environmental consciousness which started when its founder, Nils-Erik Eklund began making woven rugs from vinyl waste sourced from a Stockholm factory in 1949. Bethan Gray x The Glenlivet Bar

On the ground floor of the Doon Street Site, award-winning British designer Bethan Gray has teamed up with whisky experts The Glenlivet to create an experiential celebration of craft in the form of a bar serving a specially created menu of food and cocktails. The bar will be adorned by Bethan’s stunning new Victoria lighting collection, which is made from hand-carved marble. Book Tickets.

Wolfpack Lager

London-based brewery Wolfpack Lager will take over the third floor of the Bargehouse with a selection of craft beers and wine. Founded by two former professional rugby players, Wolfpack will supply visitors to the show with a large choice of refreshing lagers and pilsners. Wolfpack Lager has collaborated with sustainable lighting brand Tala to light up the bar with 300 of its award-winning Oblo light bulbs that will be programmed to produce a dappled light effect, reminiscent of sunshine filtering through leaves. The bar will be furnished by a new PLC chair by Modus. Book Tickets.

STILL BY FORM

Located on the first floor of the Doon Street Site, STILL BY  FORM  is a  unique restaurant installation  curated by design  consultancy and procurement  specialists BY  FORM.  The  space is designed  with  harmonious layers  of  colour and  texture  to offer  a  setting for  quiet  contemplation in  the  bustle of  the  show. The  menu  will be  provided  by Nordic  inspired  26 Grains,  its  name a reference  to the  number  of ancient  grains  that are  used  to produce  simple,  healthy food. Book Tickets.


ELLE Decoration Coffee Shop

This year, ELLE Decoration will be hosting the designjunction coffee shop, which will be decorated with quietly beautiful furniture from Danish design brand Frama (pictured) with food served on stylish tableware from Japanese lifestyle store Kinto. Book Tickets.

Vitra VIP & Press Lounge

Swiss furniture manufacturer Vitra has been commissioned to design the VIP and Press Lounge located on the first floor of the Doon Street site. Featuring some of Vitra’s most iconic pieces, including the Bistro Stand-Up Table by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec (pictured), the HAL Stool by Jasper Morrison and the Tabouret Haut by Jean Prouvé amongst others, the room will welcome visitors to the show in a stylish and colourful environment. Bargehouse, Oxo Tower Wharf

The iconic Bargehouse at Oxo Tower Wharf will host the designjunction stellar talks programme. Encompassing 14 sessions, this year’s theme #designevery celebrates design as one of  the most  powerful  components in  our  everyday lives, with the focus on equality and diversity. Book Tickets.

50 World-Class Speakers

With keynote from RIBA and an inspiring session with Sonia Watson from Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust, the talks programme is diverse and considered, celebrating inclusivity whilst exploring the crucial issues which the design industry faces. Book Tickets.

The Dreamscape Talk

Sound Architect Tom Middleton and designer Tim Gledstone will give a talk on multi-sensory design at the Doon Street Site on Friday 21 September at 11:30. They will share their insights into how and why incorporating transitional multi-sensory layers, such as sound and fragrance, into the design of workspaces is good for creativity and communication. Architectural Walking Tour

Join NLA for this special tour of London’s South Bank and Bankside, as part of designjunction 2018. Explore this global cultural hub with updates on recent developments such as the recent completion of Herzog and de Meuron's angular brick extension to Tate Modern. Our walk from Southwark Underground station to London Bridge weaves through contrasting once forgotten back streets and bustling pedestrian thoroughfares to explore and understand the area’s regeneration, including such game-changing projects as the Millennium Bridge, Tate Modern and the Shard. Workshops

Squire & Partners Mentoring Sessions

Brixton-based architecture practice Squire and Partners will host mentoring sessions for architecture students from the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust network, giving them the opportunity to engage with experienced mentors from the Stephen Lawrence Building Futures programme. Located at the Doon Street site, the mentoring sessions will take place on Friday 21 September between 14:00 and 16:30. Book Tickets.

Blend Your Own Fragrance With Experimental Perfume Club

The Experimental Perfume Club will run a series of workshops in connection with its new Layers collection - visitors will learn about the ingredients used and blend their own fragrance with founder and expert perfumer Emmanuelle Moeglin. Book Tickets.

Personalise Your Own Katie Leamon Product

Katie Leamon will be exhibiting at designjunction for the first time this year and to celebrate, Katie will launch HiDE, the brand’s debut leather collection, which will be available for personalisation using a debossing press. Katie Leamon will also be providing gold foil personalisation on a range of stationery such as lettersets, notecards and diaries with a traditional hot foil printing machine. Book Tickets.


Scriberia Drawing Workshop

Founder of Scriberia and co-author of How to Draw Anything, Chris Wilson will lead this one hour workshop, unleashing your inner child and love for drawing. As you will find out, you don't have to have exceptional artistic talent to draw a great picture, it takes confidence, clarity of thought, and a few surprisingly simple tricks.
